چکیده

In the present paper an embedded-boundary formulation that is applicable to fluid structure interaction problems is presented. The Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible flow are solved on a fixed grid which is not aligned with the body. A corotational formulation is used to describe the dynamics of a body that moves through the fixed grid undergoing large-angle/large-displacement rigid body motions. A strong coupling scheme is adopted, where the fluid and the structure are treated as elements of a single dynamical system, and all of the governing equations are integrated simultaneously, and interactively in the time-domain. A demonstration of the accuracy and efficiency of the method will be given for a variety of fluid/structure interaction problems.

External and Internal Incompressible Viscous Flows Computation using Taylor Series Expansion and Least Square based Lattice Boltzmann Method

The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has recently become an alternative and promising computational fluid dynamics approach for simulating complex fluid flows. Despite its enormous success in many practical applications, the standard LBM is restricted to the lattice uniformity in the physical space. This is the main drawback of the standard LBM for flow problems with complex geometry. Several app...

Investigation of Fluid-structure Interaction by Explicit Central Finite Difference Methods

Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) occurs when the dynamic water hammer forces; cause vibrations in the pipe wall. FSI in pipe systems due to Poisson and junction coupling has been the center of attention in recent years. It causes fluctuations in pressure heads and vibrations in the pipe wall. The governing equations of this phenomenon include a system of first order hyperbolic partial differen...

Robin Based Semi-Implicit Coupling in Fluid-Structure Interaction: Stability Analysis and Numerics

In this report, we propose a semi-implicit coupling scheme for the numerical simulation of fluid-structure interaction systems involving a viscous incompressible fluid. The scheme is stable irrespectively of the so-called addedmass effect and allows for conservative time-stepping within the structure. The efficiency of the scheme is based on the explicit splitting of the viscous effects and geo...
